Welcome to the UST Bannu Campus at District Lakki Marwat
About District Lakki Marwat:
Lakki Marwat is one of the southern districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Province in Pakistan. It was created as an administrative district on July 1, 1992, prior to which it was a tehsil of Bannu District. Lakki Marwat is bounded on the north by Bannu and Karak districts, on the east by Mianwali district of Punjab, on the southeast by DI Khan, on the southwest by Tank and on the west by tribal area adjoining Tank district and South Waziristan Agency.
The Honorable Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Abdur Rahim Khan very kindly announced establishment of a Campus of Lakki Marwat in December 4, 2014. The Project is designed to establish the first-ever Campus of University of Science & Technology Bannu at Lakki Marwat by the development of requisite academic infrastructure.
Currently, there are two departments established in the campus, which include:
1. Department of Political Science
2. Department of Education and Research
The Sub campus Lakki Marwat of the University of Science & Technology Bannu is offering the following programs:
- MA Political Science
- M.Phil Education
The Department of Political Science:
About The Department:
The Department of Political Science was founded in 2014 in Lakki Marwat. The Department is providing MA Political Science degree. This program is distributed in 4 terms, which include 24 courses. The faculty is high qualified. The department arranged seminars on various topics and students are engaged in different events related to their study and research. The following students’ societies are established for various disciplines, which include:
1. SGS - (Society of Graduate Students)
2. CHS – (Cultural-Heritage Society)
3. SSS – (Students Sports Society)
4. LDS- (Literary and Debating Society)
5. APS- (Arts and Painting Society)
Goals:
Political science focuses on the theory and practice of government and politics at the national and international levels. The goal of the political science department is to transmit the knowledge of the discipline by providing courses and instruction that are characterized by excellence. Furthermore, political science is related to, and draws upon, the fields of economics, law, sociology, history, philosophy, geography, psychology, and anthropology. Courses are designed for students who desire a basic knowledge of Political Science and its numerous subfields including comparative politics, political economy, international relations, political theory, public administration, public policy and political methodology.
Objectives:
Upon the successful graduation, students should be able to do the following:
- Demonstrate an understanding of the concepts and principles of political science in the structures, institutions, and processes of the contemporary political institutions;
- Apply the knowledge of the discipline, using technology as well as traditional methods, to contemporary questions;
- Organize ideas and focus them effectively on the issue in question;
- Demonstrate an outstanding of verbal and written communicative, analytical and critical thinking skills in various academic and professional settings;
- Recognize their personal value systems and apply these to their own social and political worlds;
- Provide content for integrating skills for teacher preparation, graduate, and professional.
Career Opportunities in Political Science:
Most of the students after completion of their graduation have the opportunity to seek career in civil services, education, law and administration. They can also actively participate in the political process of the country. Higher education is also a best option for the graduated students. They can opt for M.Phil and Ph.D in various Universities of the country and abroad.
